I Giullari di PIazza, South Italian Folk Music & Dance Monday, January 24, 2022

 Join us for an exclusive performance of Southern Italian, Native American, African ritual drumming and dances called Drums and Illumination, presented by Alessandra Belloni & I Giullari di Piazza, with the The Silver Cloud Singers. Italian-born and award-winning percussionist, singer, dancer and actress Alessandra Belloni will perform Healing Chant For The Black Madonna Against The Plague, as a collective ritual of prayer to heal from the virus and to save our Mother Earth.

Gorana Dance Monday, January 31st, 2022

   Join us for an online adventure to Bulgaria with Gorana Dance, a folk collective founded by Elissaveta Iordanova in 2006. Gorana Dance style is characterized by lively energy, swift steps and exciting interpretation of traditional Bulgarian folk dance form. Rhythms and Patterns is a thrilling performance of masterfully woven dances of different folk regions of Bulgaria.

Lunar New Year-February

Korean Traditional Dance of Choomnoori (KTDOC) Monday, February 7, 2022 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm EST

  Featured in this Lunar New Year Event are exciting performances, namely; Sword dance, Fandance, Long Drum Dance and Five Drums presented by Korean Traditional Dance of Choomnoori.
Under the amazing leadership of Artistic director,  Eunhee Ahn, the company continues to be a trailblazer in folk performances as they display Korean colorful and well coordinated traditional dances as seen on NBC TODAY SHOW and in many famous venues in New York City and worldwide.

Blue Unity Sextet Monday, February 14, 2022 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm EST

 ​Performing Jazz, blues, and folk music, George Brandon musical practice is firmly rooted in the cultures of Africa, the Caribbean and the United States. George Brandon is a transdisciplinary artist whose work straddles the domains of music, science, and spirituality.

Chuk Fowler and Higher Energy Monday, February 28, 2022, 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm EST

Be inspired by the incredible, soothing, and healing jazz sounds of Chuk Fowler and Higher Energy. The band has been around since 1981, providing quality live music for hundreds of clients in some of the best-known venues such as The Rainbow Room, Studio Museum of Harlem, The United Nations and many other venues.

Albert Alabedra And Flamenco Fusion Group Monday, March 14, 2022, 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm EST

 

Come join us for a special performance of their brand of music which brilliantly fuses traditional flamenco style that is native to Spain with jazz, middle eastern, funk, blues, rock, hip hop and world music.

A native of Barcelona, Spain, with his mother from Cordoba and grandparents from Sevilla, the Southern Spanish Province of Andalucía where Flamenco originated, Albert was exposed to flamenco at an early age.

Cristian Allexis and Urbanova Monday, April 11, 2022 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm EST

 ​​Travel virtually to the Dominican Republic for a sizzling performance of merengue and bachata music in celebration of Women's History Month. Singer Songwriter Cristian Allexis and his band Urbanova fuse rhythms of Merengue, Bachata and ballads to bring good emotions and energy to their audience. The band has performed at various important places such as Joe's Pub, Drom NYC and Little Island. With his music, Cristian Allexis promotes love and happiness.

 Batalá New York is the premier all-women, Black led, Afro Brazilian, Samba, Reggae percussion ensemble, that brings high-energy performances to the people of New York City. You will be inspired to get out of your seat and dance to their rhythms.=

The Japanese Folk Dance Institute Monday, May 9, 2022, 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm EST

The mission of the Japanese Folk Dance Institute of NY's (JFDINY) is to perform, teach and preserve the authentic folk dances historically performed by the working peoples of Japan. With an extensive collection of music, costumes and props, their dances expose audiences to the many diverse local folk traditions in Japan. Their performances highlight Japan’s unwritten culture/history, providing a unique view into the soul and the spirit of the Japanese people!

New York African Chorus Ensemble Monday, May 23, 2022 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm EST

 Join us on a musical expedition to Africa to enjoy traditional and art songs accompanied by graceful and vibrant movements. The ensemble, which is composed of dedicated multiracial, and multicultural performers, demonstrates the power of music which can, and does, transcend all racial, ethnic, and religious barriers. New York African Chorus Ensemble’s performances celebrate LIFE; encourage HEALING, and foster UNITY in our communities.
